Who is Wave

After graduating from the Department of Electronic Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1997, Wave made a decisive career change and joined AIA Group as a financial planning consultant. Wave is proactive and continues to pursue further studies. He obtained his CFP^CM certification before turning 30. Now, he holds 15 professional qualifications including CIAM, ChFC, FChFP, and LUTCF, and has become a multi-talented financial planner and senior NLP practitioner.

Wave has received numerous awards and recognition over the years. In 2000, he won the HKMA Outstanding Young Salesperson Award (OYSA). After years of dedication, he became an MDRT Life Member in 2009, despite the challenges posed by the financial crisis. Additionally, he was honored as the Outstanding Agent of the Year by HKFI, named Insurance Person of the Year in Hong Kong by iMoney, and recognized as both the Insurance Agency Leader of the Year and the Digital Agency Leader of the Year by the Asia Advisers Network in Singapore, receiving these accolades in 2019 and 2020.

Currently, as a Premier Senior District Director, Wave leads an exceptional team of over 500 young professionals, averaging 31 years of age. Notably, 96% of his team members are tertiary graduates, and over 70% hold either Master's or Doctorate degrees. His team achieved a world record as the team with the highest percentage of MDRT (Million Dollar Round Table) members globally in 2016, including 38.7% TOT & COT. Additionally, his team is the only insurance financial planning team in Asia to receive dual ISO certification (ISO 9001 & ISO 10002). Wave has led by example, mentoring his team to reach these remarkable milestones.

Outside of work, Wave is a prolific columnist for four publications: Hong Kong Economic Journal, iMoney, Edigest, and Etnet. He has authored 11 books, including The Key to Building a 100% MDRT Team, Riding the Wave, The Soul of Selling, Big Deals, and Cold Call, all of which quickly became bestsellers at Eslite and The Commercial Press. Beyond the Hong Kong edition, Wave collaborates with top insurance professionals in Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, and other countries to publish local versions of Big Deals.

Having greatly benefited from the distinguished individuals he has encountered throughout his life, Wave is committed to sharing his knowledge and insights whenever possible. As an international speaker, he is frequently invited to present at major events and training seminars, both locally in Hong Kong and abroad. Over the past decade, he has delivered more than 400 speeches to over 100,000 people.
